WA State Military Department - Moses Lake Readiness Center

The Moses Lake Readiness Center is operated by Washington State Military Department (WSMD) and the facility serve as a regional base of operations. WSMD has several major divisions including emergency management, Army National Guard, Air National Guard, State Guard, Washington Youth Academy, and State & Federal Support Services. These divisions perform homeland defense, homeland security as well as emergency mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery activities. The project renovated the facility to better suite their operational needs. The facility was outfitted with large restrooms with showers and locker rooms, fitness center, cafeteria with larger food storage, gymnasium, training classrooms, backup 911 call center, armory, recruitment and administration offices. Columbia Engineering group performed the electrical engineering services for the facility including power distribution design with (2) power services & (2) generator systems for redundancy, lighting design, fire alarm with mass notification system, data infrastructure and communications, and future provisions for intrusion detection and access control systems. This was an older facility that required on-site documentation of how things were built and required a phased approach as the Owner occupied the facility during construction.
